The beginnning of the Magic Guild can be traced to the primal swamps from where they emerged. The origins of their early existence are as murky as the bogs from which they first crawled out of, but Guild archivists tell of several legends that have circulated since the beginning of time. Some tell tales of strange creatures, aliens even, others say the frogs evolved because of divine intervention. Regardless of the impetus of their development, one thing that is known was that the frogs emerged from the swamps and built a society that today we call Frogland.
For some frogs, the gift of sentience was too much to handle. Some old timers will tell you that they still remember the carefree days of warming in the sun on a rock, then jumping in the water when they were hot. It was all so simple, but for some the invasive thoughts that came with self-awareness - the questions - "Why am I here?" "Who made me?" "What is the point of this life?" were all too much to handle. It drove some frogs mad. Others, took their anger out on their fellow frogs. And still others became greedy. They coveted things they didn't even want. They killed for things they didn't even need.
In the midst of all this chaos, some frogs looked around and saw the chaos that ensued. They felt there must be something more than the cycle of greed and murder. Traveling to an uncharted part of the land they discovered something extraordinary. Only those in the highest echelons know exactly what it was, but the group began to settle there, and then they built a castle around what they found. With each passing year, it grew and grew into what people see today and call the Magic Guild.
Today the, building stands as a testament to the frogs who founded and built this great structure. What was once a tangle of weeds and swamp water is now a mighty structure rising to the sky. Carpet lies under their feet and books contain all the knowledge of their discoveries. The Magic Guild itself defies the chaos and disorder of the land and brings a rationality to this once primitive space.
The Guild is looking for like-minded souls who share their sense of learning and adventure. Do you have what it takes? Are you too searching for something in the murky swamps? Then you too might want to ask around and find a place with kindred souls ready to share adventure and knowledge. Ask around and you too might find a place of enlightenment in Frogland.
Part of the Guild Lore is expressed through comics:
